The magic of Morocco is unforgettable and beyond dreamy. A country full of color, hospitality and grace. Falling in love with this place came easy. And has made its way to #1 of my top 5 Destinations! 🙂 This exquisite country has so much to offer from its high tourist attraction, bustling souks to desert wonderlands. The blue city of Chefchaouen is one of the most photogenic and aesthetically dreamy places I’ve visited. Today, Morocco remains one of the most accessible parts of Africa, divided only by the Strait of Gibraltar from Europe — in fact, it takes less than hour to reach Tangier by boat from Spain.

Traveling solo as a woman felt like a dream. It’s a great destination for travelers, women in particularly despite what you might read.

Morocco is a great destination to visit all year long. With its coastline, mountains, and desert landscapes, it’s an incredibly diverse country offering something unique to see any time of the year.

1. Marrakech

Marrakech effortlessly blends tradition and modernity, and it is considered the major city of Central Morocco. With streets painted a gorgeous shade of red, and the buildings to match – hence its well-known nickname, The Red City. This is a great start, especially for first time travelers to Morocco, or even solo travelers like myself. Depending on where you book your stay you will be minutes away from shopping centers, restaurants, the medina (old town with souks for shopping) and so much more.

Whether it’s exploring the winding streets through bustling souks, discovering archaeological and architectural gems, taking a moment to bask in gorgeous sunsets or escaping the city to the beautiful Atlas Mountains. Every direction more breathtaking than the next. Or spending the night in the Agafay Desert watching the sunset fade into a dreamy starlit sky.  Live your BEST LIFE as a prince/princess should and BOOK THE TRIP TO MARRAKECH. The city life here is what I normally would dislike, with it being too large, the busy streets, it’s intense. But I was wrong! It’s everything I’ve been craving from the gorgeous and vibrant lantern stalls in the Jemaa El-Fnaa, Marrakesh’s medina quarter (old city) to the artwork in the streets, and the midday atay (tea) with views all-around.

Accommodations in Marrakech

I highly recommend booking your stay in Gueliz, the so-called Ville Nouvelle (new town) of Marrakech. As I mentioned before, so many things are within walking distance such as a grocery store (Carrefour) unlimited options of delicious restaurants, and not to mention makes it easy for tour guides and drivers to get to you.

2. Tangier & Chefchaouen

Tangier, the gateway to Africa, the magical coastal city that invites you in with warmth and beauty! I made sure to book a flight in advance from Marrakech for a total of $27USD. Tangier or Tanger, is a breathtaking port town in northern Africa just across the Gibraltar Strait. I was swept away by all of the beautiful views of the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean.  The sounds and colors just ignited a fire in me like no other place in the world. 😉 Most importantly, I knew I had to include Chefchauouen, the blue city.

Although a gorgeous destination now, Tangier wasn’t always like this. Morocco’s last king made a point to divert all national investment away from his country’s fourth city. The new king, who took the throne in 1999, believes Tangier should be a great city again. The first city he visited after his coronation was Tangier. It’s exotic, warm, inviting, riveting even.

If you have the time, and luckily I did, Tangier has a colorful, relaxed vibe that invites you to adventure off to explore and unwind. While walking through the medina, I found a cute restaurant where I sat and enjoyed a hot glass of atay (tea) and people watched as families gathered or passed by, some shopping and others dining.

HOW TO GET TO TANGIER

There are multiple ways to get to Tangier. Depending on where your starting point or destination is. I decided it was easiest to fly from Marrakech to Tangier Ibn Battouta Airport (TNG). It will take just about an hour and cost $27USD on Ryan Airlines. You can also catch the train which is about 5.5 hours and from $220-$430 MAD (Moroccan Dirham) which is about $225-$45USD. If you decide to take the train, there will be a couple stops along the way making it easy to travel to different cities such as Fes and Casablanca.
You can get to Tangier by ferry from Spain, France, and Italy. Most ferries arrive at the port of Tanger Med, which is located about 40 km from the city. A ferry from Spain to Morocco typically costs between $75 and $300USD. The cost depends on things such as the route, time of year, and whether you are traveling with a vehicle, etc.

WHERE TO STAY IN TANGIER

There are many pleasant accommodations to choose from in Tangier.
Hotel Continental Featuring views of the Port of Tangier, free grocery shopping service, two on-site restaurants, a library and more.

Pestana Tanger A city center hotel with apartment-like rooms. Only 7 minute walk to Tangier Beach, 1 minute walk to the mall, and 24 minute drive from Tangier (TNG) airport.

Wander through the kasbah, experience the medina, immerse yourself in the deep rooted history. I’d wander around the Medina, relax at Café Tanger. It’s quite easy to get lost as you wind up and down the small streets through the Medina however, you can always ask one of the friendly locals if you’re in need of direction.

3. Essaouira

I Es-swear-a You’re Going to Love It!

From the moment I arrived at Essaouira, I could immediately tell there was something special about this place.

A port city of about 80,000 people on Morocco’s west coast. Just past the medina’s ramparts towards the sea, is a busy working port and a 2-kilometer sandy beach with a promenade strung with seaside restaurants and cafes. the Medina in Essaouira is by far one of my favorite throughout Morocco. In addition to this being my personal fave, this is another filming location for Game of Thrones. Luckily, these ramparts are open to the public for free from sunrise to sunset. I 🙂

Essentials for Essaouira

A few things to keep in mind while traveling to this amazing coastal town:

It’s 3 hour drive from Marrakech. You can reach by bus, car or tour

Cooler weather, strong winds

Wander / Explore & shop in the lively Medina (or discover it with a local on this popular walking tour)

Visit the city’s many art galleries and museums

See the vibrant fish market (and snap the blue boats)

Eat at Café Berber for a good value local meal, or head to Dar Baba if you feel like something fancy

Grab a sunset drink from Taros

WHERE TO STAY IN TANGIER

A couple days spent in Essaouira can give you ample time to explore this beautiful city! Below are some cost-effective stays that will absolutely blow your mind!

Salut Maroc – Art based Boutique Hotel has 180 degree sea views over the Atlantic Ocean and located in the old medina of Essaouira. With gorgeous rooms that accentuate beautiful artwork and design.

BEST THINGS TO DO

Aloha welcome to Honolulu, Hawaii! Located in the Central Pacific and belonging to the Hawaiian chain, this dreamy island is a top tourist destination. The state of Hawai’i recognizes 137 total islands. However, the most common ones are Maui, Kauai, Moloka’i, Big Island and of course, O’ahu. It’s full of tropical, lush forests, sandy beaches, waterfalls, stunning hikes, epic, green mountains and more. Making this one of the most beautiful destinations in the world. My trips to O’ahu are always filled with digging my toes in the sand, and endless Mai Tai’s on repeat. With amazing hospitality, love and energy all throughout this island, you won’t want to skip this one!

Having been here quite a few times, I’ve finally decided to call this place home.

1. How to Get to O’ahu?

The best way to get to O’ahu is by plane of course! I flew direct from Seattle, WA to Honolulu the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) with Delta Airlines for $200USD round trip + $30USD for my checked bag. I’m always searching for a great deal and this one was one of them! 🙂  Notably, with equal parts city life and endless beaches, Oahu lives up to its name. Surrounded by breathtaking scenery, mountains and valleys and delicious foods, you could understand why.

There is life in a gentle breath of wind. Heaven must be just like Hawai’i.

Welcome to Honolulu, Hawai’i

2. Honolulu, Hawaii Aloha State – Waikiki

Welcome to the aloha state of mind. Some people will tell you Waikiki is overrated and not a true representation of Hawaii however, I find this part of the island really enjoyable in small doses. Most of the hotels on Oahu are located in here which makes it an excellent destination for tourists, especially for those visiting for the first time. In spite of it being a bit crowded most days, the vibe speaks for itself.

Some days, I’ll catch a nice spot on the beach with a cup of coffee and a beach towel before the sun rises, I guarantee you’d love it too! It’s a great place to have a drink (or 2 haha) and have dinner, meet up with friends or even make new ones. Strolling down Kalakaua Avenue’s shops and eateries is one of my favorite ways to spend my free time. Waikiki is famous for its long stretch of beach and my favorite, the postcard-worthy view of Diamond Head.

More importantly, if you wander out of these areas you can avoid the crowds and discover a quieter side to Waikiki.

Keep reading and I’ll show you where to go. 🙂

Unless you plan to just stay and relax in your resort, then having a car is a must in Oahu. Furthermore, this will make exploring the island so much easier. However, if you’re just planning on staying within the city (Honolulu), you can easily get by with walking and taking the trolley. And would probably be cost effective.

3. Manoa

Manoa is a popular residential neighborhood located within Manoa Valley at the base of the Ko’olau Mountain range. This area is known for great activities, from hikes to sightseeing spots and more. One of the most popular hikes here is neighborhood is the Manoa Falls Trail. This gorgeous trail offers a lush green path to a rocky 100-foot-tall waterfall.

Additionally, this trail features views of surrounding eucalyptus trees, tropical flowers, banyan trees and so much more. Lastly, this hike lasts between 1 and 3 hours (1.6 miles round trip). However, keep in mind the trail is a bit muddy and has mosquitos so bringing plenty of bug spray is highly recommended. 🙂

One of my favorite places to travel to for it’s calm, lush beauty. Away from the beaches, hidden in between the hills and valley’s.

4. Ala Moana Beach Park

Ala Moana translates to path to the sea. This calm beach is perfect for swimmers looking to take a dip on a warm sunny day. This gorgeous neighborhood is most commonly known for its open-air shopping mall and the beach park, of course. This shopping center is the largest open-air shopping center in the world and eighth largest in the United States.

This breathtaking beach is a lagoon with shallow, placid water making it absolutely kid friendly! Not to mention, Ala Moana beach makes for a perfect location to lounge on the sand or on the grass across the street. Best of all, parking is plentiful and free.

THE 4 BEST THINGS TO DO IN

1. Catamaran – 5 in 1 Deluxe Turtle Snorkeling

This catamaran cruise promises a smooth and comfortable ride out on the ocean. Escape the crowds of Waikiki beach by getting out on the water. Afterall, the weather here on the island always makes for a perfect day out at sea. This tour offers pick up and drop off to and from your accommodations however, you may also meet at the Booth “E SEA DIVER” located in Kewalo Basin Boat Harbor. Snorkeling, water slide, kayaks, a trampoline and more are included at a low rate of $118.15 per adult (originally $139.00) and $101.15 per child.

2. Pearl Harbor USS Arizona Memorial

Immerse yourself in the history of Pearl Harbor, one of the most pivotal moments in US history of WWII. Home to the USS Arizona Memorial, the Pearl Harbor National Monument is a must-visit when visiting the island of Oahu. Learn about the rich and explore exhibits that recount the infamous morning of December 7, 1941. This partial day tour offers pick up to and from your Waikiki accommodations for just $69.99 per adult and $59.99 per child.

3.Mauka Warriors Luau – Honoring Polynesia’s Forgotten History

The rich traditions of Hawaii offer an impeccable and unforgettable luau experience. Dive deep into the culture and immerse yourself in Polynesia’s history of wars and warriors, a significant and authentic part of Polynesian culture. You’ll gain an understanding through the art of hula and fire dancing, embracing the spirit of aloha and more. Take it all in, as you indulge in delicious island cuisine. An experience you won’t forget, I guarantee it. Best of all, this takes place on the sacred site of the Battle of Kipapa.

This intoxicating (in the best way of course :)) tour offers pick up to and from your Waikiki accommodations, Hawaiian cuisine and hands-on activities are all included.

Come and join the excitement! 🙂

4. O’ahu Circle Island – North Shore Snorkeling Tour

An all-time favorite tour of the island! Check out this exhilarating, fun-packed tour around the island. Especially for those who only have limited time to explore Oahu, 10 hours is all that you’ll need. Most importantly, you’ll have the chance to explore Diamond Head, the Dole Plantation, secret beaches, and so much more!

DIAMOND HEAD: a great tourist destination for its gorgeous hiking trail is a volcanic tuff cone on the Hawaiian island of Oʻahu. Known to Hawaiians as Lēʻahi meaning brow of the Ahi (tuna) hence Diamond Head’s fin-like shape.

DOLE PINEAPPLE PLANTATION: Located in Wahiawa, O’ahu. A destination couldn’t be more associated with Hawaii like the Dole Plantation. A #1 tourist hot spot dedicated to bringing you the best of Hawaii. Offering a wide variety of uniquely designed gifts, plenty of refreshments and DoleWhip ice cream and so much more. This is a perfect way to end your adventurous day with! 🙂

These stops are just two of many you’ll make while on this all-day journey. You’ll experience so much more with just a click of the button above.

Granted, these are just a few ways I am highlighting this gorgeous island, but one can only use so many words. Come and experience the magic of Hawaii for yourself! You won’t regret it!

Travel beyond the ordinary, Guatemala. There is something truly satisfying about wandering around tiny colonial towns full of vibrant colors, and quaint, cobblestone streets that are filled with delicious local food stands and coffee shops. Imagine watching the sunset over a horizon full of volcanoes or enjoying a cocktail by the poolside overlooking a rooftop view. In brief, Guatemala is the Central American gem that will probably be much more popular amongst tourists soon. An idyllic, quiet country, rich in cultural heritage and sunshine that greets you like a warm embrace.

Zipping through via lancha boat across Lake Atitlán from one colorful village to another was one of my favorite things about this trip. If impressive Mayan Ruins, gorgeous natural lakes, deliciously rich coffee and enjoying a fresh made pizza in an active volcano are your thing, I can guarantee you’ll love Guatemala as much as I did – maybe even more! So, what makes Guatemala so magical? Guatemala’s tourist attractions will amaze you because of its natural wonders, it’s home to ancient historical sites, lively markets, and overall is a diverse and beautiful country ripe for budget travel.

Here’s everything you need to know to plan the absolute best Guatemala itinerary! I will also show you how to keep safe while making your way through this gorgeous country. 🙂

1. San Juan La Laguna, Lake Atitlán

Nestled between volcanic mountains on the famous Lake Atitlán, San Juan La Laguna is the dreamiest getaway! Undoubtedly, a gorgeous city filled with authentic roots and colorful streets. There are a total of 11 towns and villages that surround this lake and three volcanoes. The largest is Volcán Atitlán which sits at an elevation of 11,598 ft. Followed by Volcán Tolimán, sitting at 10,361 ft. And lastly, Volcán San Pedro which is 9,908 ft. Wouldn’t you want to experience the magic of the view from your boat?

When you catch a glimpse of the volcanoes covered in thick clouds, as you cruise in a lancha boat and the warm breeze blowing in your hair in the land of eternal spring. There is truly nothing like it.

HOW TO GET TO SAN JUAN LA LAGUNA

The cost, time and how you’ll get there depend on your departure point around the lake. I came from Panajachel, from here it costs Q20-25 (Quetzals) which is converts to about $2.50-$3.20USD. The boats also make pitstops at the towns of Santa Cruz, Jaibalito, Tzununa and San Marcos on the way to San Juan La Laguna. The boat ride takes about 30 minutes.

You can also take a tuk tuk from San Marcos or San Pedro which costs Q5-10 (Quetzals.)

WHERE TO STAY IN SAN JUAN LA LAGUNA

There are a few delightful accommodations to stay in San Juan. They are eco-hotels, which means it doesn’t get any better than this!

Eco-Hotel Uxlabil Atitlán – An eco-boutique hotel featuring breakfast with organic Guatemalan coffee, free private kayaks and a pool with a view of the lake.

Eco-Hotel MayAchik Surrounded by nature, with views of the mountains lies minimalistic and rustic bungalows. Quiet and quaint and best of all budget friendly.

Hotel Taa’ Tiin – A charming hotel that offers free breakfast and spa services.

2. Antigua

Planning to travel to Guatemala? Then you must add Antigua to your travel itinerary.   😉

Antigua (formerly known as Santiago de los Caballeros de Guatemala, then Antigua Guatemala) is a small vibrant city in southern Guatemala surrounded by volcanoes and mountains. A city that for over 175 years reigned as Guatemala’s colonial capital. This in depth travel guide is the perfect way to start your journey.

HOW LONG DO YOU NEED IN ANTIGUA

At least 5 days in order to do all of the top adventures – there is a lot to see in this gorgeous town. Such as Hobbitenango, an interactive fantasy-filled attraction. An amusement park that offers charming hotel rooms, a coffee shop and more. And the best part is it offers fantastic views of the valleys and volcanoes.

HOW TO GET TO ANTIGUA

Antigua is a about an hour drive away from Guatemala City, the capital (and the largest city in Central America. I booked a private transportation for $27USD via my Viator Travel Agent website.

WHAT DOES IT COST TO TRAVEL AROUND ANTIGUA, GUATEMALA

Firstly, the currency in Guatemala is the Quetzal (which is also Guatemala’s national bird). The exchange rate is about $1 USD = 7.8 Quetzals. In addition, it’s good to note if you find yourself needing to get cash ¿dondé estas un cajero automático? Your driver will be more than happy to find the nearest atm. Antigua is pretty affordable especially if you’re ballin’ on a budget however, those dollars still add up! That being said, there are a plethora of quintessential backpacker hostels, some of the best street foods all around!

Last but not least, I stayed at the Good Hotel which was about $135USD per night. From the kind staff to the warmth of the place, cleanliness and the food. Without a doubt, a 10/10 and will be a returning customer!

Undoubtedly, you’re excited to booking Guatemala by now! 🙂 But wait, there’s more…

Check out photos below for reference. 🙂

THE 7 BEST THINGS TO DO IN ANTIGUA, GUATEMALA

1. Check Out the Local Markets:

Want to grab a slice of authentic Guatemalan living? Check out the large maze-like Mercado Central Antigua Guatemala. A beautiful market full of unique handcrafted souvenirs, fresh local produce, and basic traveling goods and necessities.

Keep in mind, there are two main points in the Mercado Central to be aware of: On the right side of the market (in the far back corner) you will find a second-hand market. This is a good spot to go if you just need a cheap piece of clothing (like an extra jacket for the Acatenango hike) or if you want to see what kind of cool thrifted pieces you can find. And on the far-left side, you will find the Artisan market which houses many local artists, including painters and weavers. This is the best place to go for souvenirs.

2. Street Food Tours in Antigua

Firstly, the food in Guatemala is full of flavors that your taste buds will thank you for! There are a few food tours in this city and Street Food Evening Tours was my personal favorite. They offer private transportation pick up from your accommodations in Antigua. For this purpose, I decided to book with them, and I’m elated that I did!

However, there are plenty of food tours to choose from such as, The Best Food Tour in Antigua which does not offer hotel pick up but, will provide a meeting point. Once having met with your tour guide, you will begin your adventure to multiple restaurants including, La Casa del Ron where you’ll taste 9+ delicious cuisines. Furthermore, they will also make surprise stops at various family-owned restaurants and even Guatemalan ice cream for those who have a sweet tooth! 🙂

3. Lake Atitlán One Day Tour

My personal favorite! This trip includes pick up from your Antigua hotel or hostel at about 5 in the morning. You’ll spend the day traveling through Panajachel, San Juan la Laguna, San Pedro, and Santiago Atitlán. Breakfast will be served (included in price) at a local family-owned restaurant in Panajachel, which will be much need after a 3-hour drive from Antigua.

This particular trip is an all-day excursion filled with consciousness-expanding, laughter-filled, and vibrant adventure that fills your soul. That is to say, be sure to include this one in your Itinerary!

4. Antigua ATV Sunset Tour

Escape the cobbled streets of the city and journey up into the jungle. Discover the highlights of the countryside and mountain towns around Antigua. Enjoy the thrill of exploring by ATV, on foot, and by pick-up truck. Finally, you’ll be able to watch the sunset over the city from the amazing viewpoints at Hobbitenango.

5. Travel beyond the ordinary with this Acatenango Overnight Hike Multiday Tour

An all-inclusive package that is the perfect getaway. It includes preset camping equipment, sleeping bag liner, winter jackets & gloves. Flashlight, first aid kit and so much more are included $116.00USD per person.

6. Hobbitenango

Inspired by The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, Hobbitenango is truly where fantasy meets reality. Such a great escape from the city. This fantasy-land come to life has hobbit houses to check out, that iconic Hobbitenango troll’s hand, fun games, a swing and a hobbit-inspired restaurant.

I loved my morning here, surrounded by gorgeous mountain and volcano views. This place is super quirky and eccentric. This eco-park is also a micro hotel with a total of 3 rooms.

WHERE IS HOBBITENANGO AND HOW TO GET THERE?

Hobbitenango is in Vuelta Grande which is right outside the city of Antigua, Guatemala. It’s about 20 minutes away by car. Enjoy a Private Tour of Antigua’s Mountaintops. This package tour includes pick up from your hotel in Antigua, ATV ride, Cerro San Cristobal, Cerro de la Cruz, Los Celajes, Hobbitenango, Altamira and lunch all for $85.00USD. Guatemala City is actually the fourth capital this country has had since the Spanish colonization in 1524. The first capital was settled in what is known as the archeological site of Iximche, the second was what is known today as Ciudad Viejo, and the third was what we know today as the city of Antigua. Finally, in 1776 the capital moved to where it is today.

This gorgeous city has so much to offer and the best way to experience it all is with this Guatemala City Tour.

Travel beyond the ordinary, don’t just take my word for it! ❤

The ultimate Panama City travel guide will provide you with the travel lenses you didn’t know you needed! I had the opportunity to explore the beautiful country of Panama, and it took my breath away! One of my top favorite destinations, hands down! Sometimes overlooked as a tourist destination however, by the time you’re done reading this travel guide, I’m sure you’ll change your mind. Whether you come for the pristine islands of San Blas or just for a stroll through Panama City’s historic Casco Viejo district, there truly is something for everyone in Panama. Not only is Panama City the heart of Panama, it’s also the hub for cuisine, culture, business and nightlife.

The tropical country that bridges North & South America.

1. What to Expect in Panama City

CURRENCY

Panama actually has two official currencies, with the US Dollar sharing official status with Panamanian Balboa, pegged at a one-to-one rate, and dollars used for paper money, and Panama mainly produces its own coins.

LANGUAGE

Like most of Latin America, Spanish is the primary language in Panama City, but because of its legacy as a vital international trade connection, you will also find that there is a multicultural expat population that speaks English too.

CLIMATE

Temperatures in Panama City are quite stable throughout the year, with hot days that often rise to ninety degrees Fahrenheit. The dry season is fairly short, running from December to April, with the remainder of the year experiences a fair amount of rain, making it an all-year tourist destination- in my opinion. 🙂

2. The Ultimate Panamá City Travel Guide

The ultimate Panama City travel guide is here! Firstly, Casco Viejo translates to ‘old town.’ This historic part of the city has seen a lot of development over the years however, you can still see plenty of historic traditional buildings intertwined with giftshops and plenty restaurants and bars. A beautiful town to walk through on a warm sunny day, makes perfect for making stops along the way! There are many museums in this district as well as theaters that host operas and musical shows! 🙂

Located on the water- you can choose from so many activities! From the ocean’s blue waters to the jungle, the country has a beautiful rainforest, tons of biodiversity, ruins, and deep history to explore.

These are a few of my favorite activities to do in Panama City!

The Panama Canal (Canal de Panamá) is known for being a huge reason the city is what it is today. In fact, the 50-mile-long (82- kilometre) century old Panama Canal is an engineering marvel to behold. Built in 1914 and still operating to date. It was designed to decrease the travel time for ships between the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea.

Foundationally, it connects the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. With a tour guide you’ll learn about the history of the canal and how it is used currently. More importantly, it serves as a maritime shortcut that saves time and costs in transporting all kinds of goods. And arguably one of the most famous attractions in Panamá. Lastly, this amazing structure is also known as one of the Seven Wonders of the world.

WHERE TO STAY IN PANAMA CITY

Le Meridien Panama – A hotel I highly recommend for those want to stay in the heart of the city and immerse in the beautiful night sky view. Located close to museum of Natural Science and the National Theater and the Pacific Mall. Lastly, rooms start at $150USD and sometimes even discounted. Perfect for solo travelers or group trips, it’s a great accommodation for everyone! 🙂

The Sheraton Grand Panama – Le Meridien was my first choice however, they were all booked for the time of my travel. In the end, this is where I stayed while in Panama for about $160 per night. Nonetheless, I truly enjoyed my stay here! With the kind staff, good food and more, what else could I have asked for?

There are so many hotels, Airbnb’s and resorts to choose from. These two hotel options were my top 2 favorites.

THE 4 BEST THINGS TO DO IN PANAMA CITY

1. San Blas Islands Day Tour

San Blas Islands is one of the best tours! I already cannot wait to return to Panama so I can do this all-day tour over again! Although, 15 hours sounds like an insane amount of time to spend traveling on the go, however, this one should be on everyone’s TO-DO LIST. 🙂

The Caribbean coast of Panama is a dreamy, tranquil place. This tour includes, breakfast, lunch, activities, boat rides, pick up from your hotel accommodations and so much more! Make the most out of your trip for $160USD! Come join the fun!

Since this is an all-day excursion, the best time to book is a day or so after your arrival here in Panama. Otherwise, it will become quite exhausting if booked immediately after.

2. Legends of Casco Viejo Tour: Uncover Hidden Gems

Naturally, you might want to dive into the true history and culture of this gorgeous country. Casco Viejo, Panama City’s old town is one you won’t want to miss. Especially, if you have a thirst for knowledge and overall inquisitiveness, you’ll want to book this trip. Legends of Casco Viejo Tour: Uncover Hidden Gems. For just $40USD this tour includes pick up from your hotel accommodations or a designated meeting point, personalized tour of Panama city, Casco Viejo, a trip to a market with artisan products/ souvenirs and more. One of my favorite things to do while here in Panama! ❤

Looking for an evening out on the town? Maybe you’re a solo traveler like myself? Or just want to experience the night life here? Look no further! Such an unforgettable trip! ❤

Colombia has amazing combinations of mountains, jungles, white sand beaches, bustling cities and colonial architectures. These are the 5 best experiences in Colombia! Colombia is in that perfect tourism sweet spot, between the cusp of becoming one of the hottest tour destinations and being off-the-beaten-track. With these 5 best experiences in Colombia, I promise it won’t be hard to fall in love. I did!

THE 5 BEST EXPERIENCES IN COLOMBIA

1. Day Trip to a Pueblo

Chic, modern, and mountainous. Medellín is a beautiful countryside. The best experience in Colombia by far! I highly recommend going to Jardin, Santa Fé de Antioquia or Guatapé which is my personal favorite.

Nestled in northwest Colombia, bout an hour and a half away from Medellín lies this beautifully colorful (literally!) pueblo, Guatapé. A great idea on any trip to Colombia. I highly recommend hiring a tour guide to take you there even just for a day trip! And don’t forget to stop by La Piedra del Penol, a man-made Peñol-Guatapé Reservoir. One of the most popular, award-winning tours. Start off by climbing the famous rock, enjoy an Antioquian-style lunch at a local cafe (many restaurants, bars and gift shops located right here!) Next, you’ll stop by Plazoleta de Los Zócalos. A plaza filled with more gift shops, local food and more!

Definitely a Colombian experience you don’t want to miss!

2. Guatapé

Plazoleta de Los Zócalos is an exposure in itself. Cheerful, colorful and definitely a MUST-SEE!

A gorgeous port city on Colombia’s Caribbean Coast. You’ll find the stone-walled Old City by the sea filled with colorful colonial buildings, vibrant bougainvillea over the tops of sprawling balconies and neighboring restaurants serving delicious foods and drinks. Cartagena was founded in the 16th century by Pedro de Heredia, a Spanish conquistador. A well protected, gigantic stone fortress that lines the entire city (up to 30 meters thick and 11KM long.) Definitely worth taking a stroll! 😉

3. Cartagena

Cartagena sits along the tropical side of this stunning country. A place that is typically know for “being dangerous” But that’s far from the truth! Cartagena is very safe and I never once felt scared there. Anyway, if your idea of a vacation is sipping the world’s best coffee on a bougainvillea-laced balcony, heading to a tropical island just minutes off of the city or anything in between. There’s something here for everyone. The colorful Colonial architecture all throughout the city is impeccable and makes perfect for photos! 🙂

GETSEMANI: A neighborhood located just outside the walls of the Old City, a laid-back, authentic part of the city that brings a New Orleans vibe. A perfect place to go out dancing, local spots to eat/drink and immerse in culture. Just an overall, beautiful, magical, and unique place to visit.

BOCAGRANDE: This neighborhood sits in the city of Cartagena de Indias in Bolívar, Colombia. Just southwest of the Old City and located on the water. surrounded by high rises and designed by first-world standards.

WALLED CITY (OLD CITY): An important part of Cartagena’s history will forever remain within these walls. Surrounded by 11 kilometres of fortress walls. Construction began on September 8 of 1614, after the attack of the legendary Sir Francis Drake and by order of King Philip III. While this fortress was being built, the city was constantly being invaded by pirates. It was completed in 1796. Nonetheless, a picturesque, colorful city you won’t want to miss!

4. The Colombian Islands

Enjoy the Colombian Islands – a true Caribbean paradise! The best beaches with the warmest water I’ve ever experienced and the best part these islands are located just off the coast of Cartagena. I recommend taking a day trip to tour a few of them. You’ll want to take a boat to these islands usually starting with an early morning pick up from your hotel, have breakfast at a cute restaurant along the way. There will be many speedboats on the shores of Playa Tranquila ready to take tourists on an adventure of a lifetime. Be sure to book a full-day Islas del Rosario (Rosario Islands) which includes, Playa Agua Azul, Cholón, (all pictured below) Playa Blanca and Isla Barú and don’t forget to ask for a Coco Loco too. 🙂

5. El Totumo – One of 5 Best Experiences in Colombia

A mud bath in a volcano is a must-do!

Located an hour and 15 minute drive away from Cartagena. It used to be an active volcano that used to spew fire, lava and ashes. It is now an active mud volcano. Do you dare to climb in?

A few things to keep in mind:

  1. Getting out of the mud will be really tricky. Don’t worry! you won’t have to climb up the slippery, wooden ladder alone!
  2. You’ll get up close and personal with many strangers. You can change into bathing suits, you’ll make the climb up rickety, wooden stairs – which is quite the unexpected workout! Time to relax and unwind in the mud. One by one you’ll descend into the mud, slowly going down the same slippery wooden ladder mentioned above.
  3. Bring CASH with you There is no ATM nearby. (Colombian Pesos are preferred. U.S Dollars accepted)
    • If you get a massage in the mud. A tip should be paid.
    • If you receive help rinsing off in the nearby river. A tip should be paid.

Sitting there in the river with other travelers I’d never met, getting the mud washed off of us by old women we’d never met. Definitely a pleasant bonding experience!

10/10 experience 🙂

You’ll enjoy walking in the sands of time in Aruba with its world-class beaches and always-perfect weather making this a top destination for tourist. Aruba is constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Located in the mid-south of the Caribbean Sea. Combined with the warm and inviting culture makes it all the more irresistible. One thing you may find hard to believe is that Aruba is one of the safest vacation spots in the Caribbean which is definitely top priority. There are four languages spoken here on the island, Papiamento, Dutch, English and Spanish. You won’t have any trouble getting around! 🙂

Sitting about 29 kilometres north of the Venezuela peninsula of Paraguaná and 80 kilometres northwest of Curaçao is Aruba the happy island. Nothing beats walking in the sands of time and creating memories. The people of Aruba truly make it all that it is. The warm culture meets the warmth of the bluest sea that surrounds you. Falling in love with the island was simple and has filled my heart with so much joy ever since.

“Bon Bini!” (Welcome!)

1. Where to stay?

Fly into Oranjestad, Aruba (Queen Beatrix International airport) which is the capital city of Aruba. There are plenty of hotels and resorts to choose from and most are even located on private beachfronts! Below I’ve listed a few favorites.

  1. Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort Spa & Casino
    • 4.5-star luxury resort
    • Located on the beach.
    • About 17-minute drive to AUA airport
    • 4-minute walk to Palm Beach
  2. Barceló Aruba
    • All-inclusive property (meaning all meals/beverages are included in the price)
    • Beachfront property
    • Bubali Bird Sanctuary – 10-minute walk
    • Paseo Herencia Shopping Mall and Palm Beach Plaza
    • About 17-minute drive to AUA airport
  3. Renaissance Aruba Resort – My personal favorite!
    • All-inclusive option available
    • Sea view property
    • Access to the private island with flamingos
    • Within walking distance to restaurants, gift shops and more!

HOW TO GET TO ARUBA

Like many islands, many travel by air if so, you’ll land at Queen Beatrix International Airport located in Oranjestad, Aruba. However, if you’re looking for a short stay then a cruise may be more your speed.

2. Things to Do in Aruba?

Despite Aruba being a small island, there are plenty of activities to do here and must-see sightseeing tours too. Let’s get into it! 😉 Below are some amazing activities and tours you wouldn’t want to miss!

  1. Some of my personal favorites:
    • Fort Zoutman Historical Museum – a military fortification at Oranjestad, Aruba that was originally built in 1798 by African slaves. You can learn a lot about the history here on the island and definitely worth it!
    • Bushiribana Ruins– Historic Gold Mines a 19th century gold mill
    • Aruba Aloe Factory Museum – Aruba was once the largest exporter of aloe vera.
    • Balashi Brewery & Beer Garden – Balashi is Aruba’s local island brew.
    • Aruba Mural Tours – Take a grand tour through San Nicolaas to see amazing murals throughout the city.
    • Renaissance Private Island – Nothing beats the flamingos! Here are a few things I wish I knew the day pass is $125 per person and this price includes one meal and one drink. If you book your stay at the Renaissance Wind Creek Aruba Resort, you will have access to this private island at no additional cost! Be sure to carry quarters with you to buy food for the flamingos. A quarter will get you a large handful! This way you’ll attract them for photos and videos!
    • Snorkeling – You can never go wrong with this great experience in turquoise blue water 🙂

3. Best time to Walk the Sands of Time in Aruba?

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO VISIT ARUBA

Although Aruba has amazing weather all year round, the best time to visit is between April and August the island’s high prices take a holiday and rainfall is at its lowest. January to March features very pleasant weather. Keep in mind anytime of the year is a perfect time to visit the island. Most of the rain falls from late October through early January.

Pictured above are photos of me feeding a flamingo and sipping coconuts and walking the sands of time. Ahh, living the life! 🙂

WHAT DOES IT COST TO TRAVEL AROUND ARUBA

Firstly, round trip flights can cost between $250-$400 depending on the time of year. I love to shop around for the best deals. Lastly, hotel/resorts cost were about $1,200USD. I stayed at the Renaissance Wind Creek Aruba Resort. Undoubtedly, the best decision. The cost of $1,200 included 5 nights/6 days stay with a gorgeous sea front view and free access and boat ride to the Renaissance Private Island! Additionally, I booked an hour and a half full body massage in a private cabana at the Renaissance Private Island. Experience the pinnacle of pampering at Okeanos Spa where they offer facials, full-body wraps, massages and so much more. In conclusion, this is the place for ultimate relaxation and rejuvenation.

The island of Jamaica is what tropical dreams are made of with endless tours and attractions to top it off! An island that has stolen my heart. It’s the cool of the ocean on a warm sunny day. And the soft sand beneath my feet. It’s the endless coconuts throughout the island, the 360 views of lush greenery. The blue seas that have brought me back for the past 8 years and counting. If you ask me, this island is truly heaven on earth! For this, I am blessed to call this place home.

I guarantee you’ll fall in love 😉
BEST PART OF THE ISLAND TO STAY IN?

This is probably the first question I’m always asked, and the answer is… ANYWHERE! 🙂

It all depends on what you like. Are you more interested in a secluded getaway? And endless miles of calm, turquoise waters or a busy city-life with more attractions? Maybe a family vacation? Jamaica has just what you need. In essence, you’ve come to the right place.

I fell completely in love with everything about this island from my very first trip. Everyone deserves to have a sense of belonging, that warm feeling you feel deep inside when you come home? That’s the feeling that has brought me back more times than I can count! (literally) In Jamaica there’s a saying that goes; “There are no problems, only situations.” And that’s very true! Doesn’t mean that life never gets rough, or crazy at times, just means keep your head held high and remember that life in itself is a blessing. I’ve never felt anything quite like the feeling of being here. ❤

1. Montego Bay

Located at the north shore of Jamaica lies this gorgeous city of Montego Bay (the capital city of Saint James Parish). A popular tourist destination with plenty of resorts and restaurants just minutes from the Montego Bay Sangster International airport and within walking distance to many attractions. Montego Bay is known for its beautiful beaches and busy streets!  A few all-inclusive resorts are Secrets St. James, S Hotel, Breathless Resort & Spa and more! The hip strip is the perfect location for hotel accommodations. a small distance to so many great adventures such as Margaritaville Montego Bay where you can have a splash in the sea, enjoy a burger and drinks!

Lastly, Montego Bay is great for families with children, a girls/guys trip, solo travelers.  😉

Again, Jamaica has so much to offer than just all-inclusive resorts and bottomless rum. Get out there, enjoy an activity or two!

HOW LONG DO YOU NEED IN MONTEGO BAY?

This is such a loaded question. Personally, a minimum of 1 month. Ultimately, you won’t want to leave. Most travelers stay for about 5 to 7 days.

THE 4 BEST THINGS TO DO IN JAMAICA

1. Martha Brae River Rafting Tour

Welcome to Trelawny! Martha Brae river rafting will be one of your favorite hobbies list, I promise! Transportation to and from your Montego Bay accommodations is included on this tour. Aboard a bamboo raft (handmade) you’ll sit back as your captain takes you downstream on the slow-moving river. Taking in the lush scenery and indulging in nature. My personal favorite about floating through this riverbank are the jerk chicken and coconuts and a few other vendors selling souvenirs, etc. With that being said, please remember to bring cash. Jamaican dollars is recommended as the best option. USD is typically accepted throughout the island as well.

2. Reggae Horseback Ride & Swim

Two of my personal favorite things, horseback riding and the beach. Enjoy a ride through the beautiful private, 900 acre eco-friendly ranch. This scenic nature trail ride is the ultimate relaxation tour.

A 2 hour ride that will end on a private one mile beach overlooking a mountainside view. During your ride, you’ll learn about the rich Jamaican culture, herbs and spices and more!

There is something about personal one on one time. Hence, the private tour* With that being said, for only $80.00USD you can take a dip in the warm Caribbean ocean with these majestic animals. Additionally, this is the complete package to to soothe your soul.

3. Island Routes Reggae Catamaran Cruise

The best catamaran hands down! I’m a repeat offender when it comes to this cruise. But, don’t just take my word for it. This tour commences with a pick up from your accommodation and drop off at Tropical Bliss Beach in Montego Bay where you’ll await your Caribbean sea chariot. Once aboard, there will be a brief introduction and cocktails will follow shortly after! (Yes, this means open bar) 🙂 Drinks are served throughout this 3 hour long sail. Great weather, delicious drinks and lunch served while you lay out on the sun deck and bask in the views of Jamaica’s north coast.

There will be a quick stop at Margaritaville (not included in the price of the tour). Remember to bring cash (JMD recommended) and/or credit or debit card. A light lunch will be served after snorkeling. Lastly, the party will resume as you set sail for the rest of the afternoon. To put it another way, you do not want to miss out!

4. Bob Marley’s Nine Mile Day Trip

Visit the birthplace and hometown of reggae legend Bob Marley. Spend the day exploring the remote village of Nine Miles located in St. Ann Parish. A place where Bob Marley was not only born, but also spent most of formative years. This is also the site of his burial.

Learn about the Rastafarian religion that the musician practiced while soaking up the views of the countryside.

2. Negril – Tours and Attractions

The island of Jamaica has many things to offer with tours and attractions! This is one of them! Negril is a beautiful town in western Jamaica, about 2 hours drive from Montego Bay. It’s a quieter side of the island and more secluded. If your interested in a quiet getaway to relax on the beach with a loved one this will be ideal. Away from the bustling city streets you’ll find plenty of all-inclusive resorts along one of the islands most famous Seven Mile Beach.

What more can one ask for?

A few of my favorites hotels and resorts are Azul Beach Resort which offers all-inclusive options, Royalton Negril (An Autograph Collection) and Hotel Riu Negril. The options are like possibilities, they are ENDLESS!

Jamaica has been my home for the past several years now. Foundationally, Jamaica has become a part of me. I’ve discovered hidden gems, and some of the best places to eat, drink, and to truly take in the island life.

Negril is the epitome for relaxation.

3. Ocho Rios – Island of Jamaica Tours, Attractions & More

Ocho Rios (or Ochi) is a port town on the north side of Jamaica. A gorgeous location for the adventure-seekers looking for a thrill of a lifetime! Ochi is in the Parish of Saint Ann, home to rivers, rainforest and waterfalls. Stop by Dolphin Cove to swim with dolphins. Or take a dip in Dunn’s River Falls which is a beautiful 180m mountain waterfall with lagoon pools. Thinking about going on a cruise to Ocho Rios? Definitely be sure to put it on your bucket list!, you won’t be disappointed!

Some of my favorite things to do in this part of the island are exploring Dunn’s River Falls and visiting Bob Marley’s hometown on this full day combination tour. With a local guide, you’ll travel to Nine Mile, where Bob Marley was born, you’ll learn about the life of the father of reggae. Afterwards, you will continue to Dunn’s River Falls, where you trek to the top of the falls for scenic views of the surrounding landscape. This tour package is about $129.00USD per person. Dunn’s River Falls and Bob Marley’s Nine Mile book your tour TODAY!

4. Portland – One of the top destinations of the island

A Parish on the northeast coast of Jamaica. Beautiful sandy beaches that border the lush, forested coast between the city and the deep waters of the Blue Lagoon. Portland is that picture perfect postcard you’ll want to send a friend!
